Microsoft is already leading the market for computer operating systems, and this move is aimed at establishing a strong foothold in the mobile phone industry. The company is particularly targeting to bank on the rising popularity of smartphones amongst the customers. Windows phone 7 is designed keeping in mind the needs of these special customers, and is bound to offer additional functionalities, good user interface and advanced functional prospects.

Other Microsoft services such as Zune media service and Xbox LIVE gaming environment are integrated into this operating system. While the Xbox lures the gaming addicts, the popular Zune media services synchronizes the music and video files. With this the software giant has launched “Live Tiles”,a virtual post-its for the Mobile Phone. Shortcuts for favorite apps or Web sites in the form of large, colorful tiles greet you to the home screen. Live tiles with links to your Facebook profile or friends can also be placed for a one touch access. “Live” here means that they are working in real time environment, so if the content of the app or site is updated, the tile will be automatically updated on your screen.
