Google Chrome Auto-Translation Could Boost Website Optimisation

Google’s launch of an automatic translation service to work alongside its Chrome web browser could prove useful for companies looking to boost their website optimisation through organic search.

The new service offers instant translation of web pages, allowing Chrome users to translate a site without any external tools, such as extensions or plug-ins.

Sam Tilston, Search engine optimisation specialist and marketing director at Memorybits.co.uk, said those involved in search engine marketing could harness auto-translation to gain exposure in growing markets such as China.

But is it still worth adding foreign meta tags to try and grab local language search engines now that Google Chrome can handle translation itself?

To ensure that pages of a website are appearing in foreign language search engines, Mr Tilston recommends that there should be some element of that language on the page.

“That does not mean in the meta data, but more along the lines of foreign language within the text of the page, perhaps foreign keywords,” he explained.

Mr Tilston added that he believed auto-translation would become in big trend for website optimisation.

However, he said that website optimisation remained important as it was still necessary for sites to be found by foreign users in order to be translated.

And Mr Tilson warned that while auto-translation could potentially mean bigger audiences, ecommerce sites will have to consider whether they want their pages to be available to overseas visitors who ultimately may be unable to make a purchase.

According to Internet World Statistics, English speakers are the largest group on the web with 478 million users. This is followed by Chinese speakers (384 million) and Spanish speakers (137 million).

The future of Google Chrome

The future of Google Chrome

Google started taking part in the battle of browsers in early 2008 by releasing their browser, Google Chrome. The initial release was only targeted towards Microsoft Windows users. But during December 2009, Google released official betas for Max OSX and Linux operating systems.

Chrome has demonstrated that it can fight with the existing giants. Within a relatively short period of time, it has surpassed the market share of Safari and Opera. Currently it holds a significant share of 4.26%, being at the third place. The Internet Explorer still holds the majority of share of 63.6% while Firefox has gained 24.7%.

So far, there is a positive outlook for Chrome. Many existing users of Safari have reported that they like the improved response time with the browser. Also the browser is developed with user experience in mind, hence, has a very limited number of buttons and menu items. This gives the user a larger viewing area.

On a negative side, the browser is still in beta stage for Mac and Linux users. Some users have noticed the lack of control with their bookmarks a reason not the make the immediate shift. Most tech savvy users who are used to live with customized plug-ins with Firefox will also take sometime to shift to the new browser. Even though Chrome has extensions, it is still not matured.

In conclusion, Chrome has shown promising results so far. It is continuing to increase on market share in 2010 as it improves stability and overall user experience across all platforms.

Chrome Vs Firefox

Google Chrome Vs Mozilla Firefox

The hype hasn’t even settled on Google Chrome’s release and already Mozilla is reeling under its influence. Google claims that Chrome is the fastest internet browser than anything currently available on the world wide web. Google Chrome is a browser that combines a minimal design with sophisticated technology to make the web faster, safer, and easier. As of now it supports almost 43 languages and it automatically detects your language. For now, Google Chrome seems to be the fastest internet browser in the online industry. In response to this Mozilla is gearing up with Firefox 3.1 which the company claims will be faster than anything Google can muster with Chrome.

In February 2008 Mozilla announced that they had reached 500 million downloads of Firefox, and 150 million active users.

Let’s see how many people switch to Google Chrome and how many stick to the usual Mozilla Firefox.

Try both the browsers you will easily make out the difference.

With the competition heating up between the two giants its the common internet users who can look forward to benefiting the most from this.

Google chrome is running v8, an open source javascript engine which is written in C++ whereas Mozilla will be using TraceMonkey, an evolution of Firefox’s SpiderMonkey JavaScript engine for Firefox 3.1

Performance wise Tracemonkey was found to be better than Chrome beta.

In Firefox if one tab crashes we can see its impact on other tabs but its not the same in case of Google Chrome. Google Chromes each tab is an independent process. If one tab crashes there won’t be any effect on the other tabs. Every tab is on its own due to which memory management becomes very easier, eradicates the reasons for memory seepage.

Find Out The Easy (But Completely Avoidable) Search Engine Optimization Decision That Can Doom Your Web Site From The Very Start

I’m always amazed by the amount of companies who pay lots of money to get a website built and then sit back and wait for the new business, sales leads, and sales to start rolling in automatically – and are then shocked and surprised when they don’t. Frequently they will go back to the web design company and blame them over the issue.

Of course while the business owner is berating the unfortunate web designer they have forgotten one key thing…

The web site designer is just that. A web site designer. And he has completed what he was asked to do and created a nice looking web site for the business owner. It’s very probable that what the web designer is NOT is an SEO professional! But none of that really matters as it is almost certain that it never crossed the business owners mind to check if SEO was included in the cost, or if it was included if it covered simply on-page SEO, or off-page SEO as well.
